Kaltoplast - profile and history

Kaltoplast was founded in the 1960s by the brothers Karl and Tore Lundahl, in Ängelholm, southern Sweden. They began by mainly producing vinyl plastic pipe ducting for electrical installations.

In 1965 came about the ingenious idea of co-extruding a PVC tube with a copper-plated iron wire, thereby producing a tube that kept any shape to which it had been bent: the Scanflex flexible saliva ejector was born!

The following years saw steady growth. The company eventually (in 1977) became a part of the Bergman & Beving Group, which speeded up development. In 1982 Lindström Plast was acquired, with its principal product being the DLM dropless medicine bottle caps that had newly been launched, and that are still one of Kaltoplast's most well-known products. This acquisition allowed Kaltoplast to complement its expertise in extrusion with advanced injection moulding knowledge.

Rising turnover and increased customer demand for production capacity, quality, competence development and not least the realisation of the need for an upgrading of the company's operations led to Kaltoplast moving its base in 1997 from outgrown premises in Magnarp to a modern plant in Ängelholm. It was decided to include a clean room in this facility, both to meet customer requirements and to enable future growth.

Kaltoplast's business aim is now to develop, manufacture and market extruded and injection-moulded plastic products for use in medical technology. This requires continuous development of the company's own product range, mainly consisting of dental articles and closures. At the same time Kaltoplast is placing an increasing amount of emphasis on its role as a supplier of extruded and injection-moulded plastic components for the medical technology industry.
